Can Someone With Epilepsy Have Alzhiemer’s Disease Later On?

by Faces of Epilepsy on November 1, 2011

I need to know because I have a friend with epilepsy...
How big is the chance that they could get it?

People with epilepsy can have alzheimer’s later on, but usually they have the genetics for it either way. People with Alzheimer’s can develop epilepsy due to the brain changes too.

The two are unrelated. Your friend’s chances of developing Alzheimer’s is the same as yours.

All the best.
