Can One With a Past Experience of Epilepsy Join the Army?

by Faces of Epilepsy on January 1, 2012

So when i was 6 years old i was diagnosed with epilepsy. Then when i was 9 they did a MRI to find out that i had a brain tumor. So i went and had brain surgery which took care of the problem. Well i would like to join the military like my two older brothers, get myself on a better track in life.

Would it be possible for me to join? considering i haven't had epilepsy for about ten years as well as i haven't been on any medications since the surgery?

The regulation says you have to be free of epilepsy for at least five years before you can be considered for a waiver. Don’t know about the brain surgery, though. I would have to research that one.
